marketing and a mascot

A pride of lions with a sunset in the background

We have many positive stories to tell about our district! So, we should not be shy about publicizing our successes - especially around our unique programs like dual language, arts and music and science research.

Right now, we do a good job of talking about our strengths within the community. But there's room for improvement in sharing our scholars' stories beyond Ossining through a concise and effective communications and marketing strategy.

If elected, I would:

  • Look to open an ongoing dialogue and partnership with the towns and villages to more aggressively market our schools to attract new residents and businesses.
  • This will have many positive impacts for the community, including the potential to increase property values and level the tax burden for our families - while keeping affordable housing top of mind.

As for the mascot, this is something that can be a nice button on our efforts to better position our schools outside of Ossining. The idea of bringing back a mascot has been discussed by families and students, so I would support moving this forward pretty quickly.

We have a good foundation with "Ossining Pride" so maybe something involving a pride of lions - which is a family unit of males, females and their young - feels like a natural fit for us. Having a mascot gives our community a focal point to rally around and aligns with our inclusion efforts.
